Pakistani Trains

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaDUov7Rvyw: Karakoram Express Lahore to Karachi.

TV in each seat in A/C compartments in Shalimar Express. Corridor seems narrower than in Indian trains. Apparently trains with private sector participation.

An interesting comparison of Indian railways with Pakistani railways here.  I am not sure whether a fair comparison has been made. Duronto is mentioned to be fully air conditioned. It is not.
I tried googling about a year back to see if one could do online ticket booking on Pakistani railways. I think not.

Total passenger traffic (per year) / population of country:India: 8224/1200= 6.8

Total passenger traffic (per year) / population of country: Pak: 47.7/182= 0.24

Total route km / sq km of country area

India: 65436/33 = 1983 km/sq km
Pak: 7791/7= 1113 km /sq km

Accident per million train km:

India: 0.1
Pak: I couldn't find the data.

An article about the state of Pakistani railways: http://www.dawn.com/news/1201004

A nice article about traveling by train in Pakistan. I have longed for such an article for so long. (Jun 6, 2017)
