Indian Man Beaten Up In US

I hate the fact that an elderly Indian was beaten up by a policeman in US last week. A man expects that he should be treated fairly by the people in the place he resides. The south (of US) is still kinda racist. Why do we have to go to a place where we don't seem to belong?

But then I think how is it any different in India?

A woman in Delhi (or in many other places in India) expects that she has a right not to be molested. But it does not happen and cannot be controlled,

Probably we expect US to hold itself to higher standards than we set for India and Indians. I have seen in movies where the villain tells the policeman that the latter cannot just shoot and kill the former as policemen are accountable (implying that villains aren't).

What a crappy bunch we have become.

An article on blouses here and the author's website on accessories here. The article describes how to mix and match blouses. A wrist length blouse is a must for those with sturdy biceps.

Best Inexpensive Laptops

If you are looking for inexpensive laptops in India, this is the place.

You need to decide whether you want Windows as OS. Chromebooks could be an option. There are links, at the end of the post, on Chromebooks which take you through features and prices. Processors come in different sizes and shapes. There is a link below that compares different processors and another on extended warranty.

Then you need to decide whether you need MS Office only or whether you want to consider other alternatives like Libre Office, Google docs. Even in MS office there are options (Office 2013, Office 365 etc). Links under Office Software section below provide info that could help you decide.

Office Software:

Note that Microsoft's Office Online, Google Spreadsheet, Libre Calc seem to have some common problems if you are planning to migrate from Excel.

  • If the original file size is large (even 3-4MB), the options mentioned above have performance problems. They will be much slowed than Excel.
  • If the excel file is password protected, the alternatives don't work. You have to remove the password first.
  • If you use the alternatives and download / save the large spreadsheet as .xlsx and then open in Excel, you may get a message saying that the file is get corrupted and then a popup saying which xml's got fixed etc. After that you may not trust the data in the xlsx file.
  • Libre seems to have a nice ability to use functions and procedures. It needs a JRE (Java Run Time) engine to be installed.

With these in mind, here are the links about various options:

On Chromebooks:

  • Playing FLV files: 1 and 2

  • Password protect a Google doc: 1 or 2
  • Winzip: 1, 2

STBA

STBA: Imagine a door went shopping for fruits and not having any hands to carry the fruits, wore the grapes in the front and the jackfruit in the back.

A friend also used the phrase "bright taillights" to partially explain this.

TA Rajalakshmi

TA Rajalakshmi, "one of the best devadasis of Tiruvidaimarudoor" as per Wiki, lived in Kolkata and had been the guru of Chitra Visveswaran and Vani Ganapathy.

And what is it that many of the senior teachers of Bharatnatyam dance in those years seemed to be Pillais? Here is one more dance and Pillai combination: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sripriya

See the image (you need to zoom plenty): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanjavur_Quartet

Read about Vazhuvoor Ramiah Pillai (and see the list of his disciples, maybe it's exaggerated?)

About TA Rajalakshmi by Chitra Visveswaran: http://www.abhai.org.in/e-patrika/yaaro-ivar-yaaro-august-2013.html and http://bharathanatyam.in/about-her-guru.

TAR herself apparently was a disciple of  Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai as per http://www.bhavalaya.com/art%20and%20culture/famous_bharatanatyam_dancers.html
