Gender Myths

An interesting post on gender differences. http://in.lifestyle.yahoo.com/men-want-cuddles-kisses-women-prefer-sex-115550590.html. Wonder how much of this study is true. And if true, how many more of what we take to be granted are myths.

While I just made a note of this post, Guruji pointed me as usual to another blogger who has written a really funny post, http://purba-ray.blogspot.com/2011/07/not-tonight-darling.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FtrRoc+%28A-Musing%29. Have fun.

Across The World

  • Indigenious engineering (or that's what I assumed)
  • The safety factors built in, running unmanned trains twice a day to ensure everything is ok. Just like one does automated testing in software.
In the meanwhile in India we are still grappling with rail accidents frequently. When do we get good competent people to head railways and other functions or departments in the country?

Where do we have such men in India

This is an interesting article on the CIA man who located Osama Bin Laden (http://in.news.yahoo.com/the-man-who-hunted-osama-bin-laden.html).

Where do we have such men in India? How do we recruit them and train them?

Bribe Paid To Get Admission

Students paid the equivalent of a quarter million dollars to get a medical seat at AIIMS

When will we change?

Kerala Temple Suddenly Richer By $20 Billion

The Padmanabha Swamy temple in Trivandrum has been recenrly found to have $20 billion worth jewelry inside.

Wonder how people let that kind of money remain? It ought to have been stolen long time back. And next I wonder how the money will be spent. Who will get custody?

Cayman In The USA

This is an article (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/28/us-usa-shell-companies-idUSTRE75R20Z20110628) on a company creating shell companies on the fly. Thousands of companies are registered in a single house in a small town in Wyoming, USA.

Interesting.

Munnar

I read this post (http://in.news.yahoo.com/widescreen--a-day-out-in-munnar.html?page=1) on Munnar today. It brought back memories from a long time back when I had visited Munnar with friends.

We had gone visiting there and we planned to climb the peak there about (2000 odd meters). I was dead tired and pleaded that I would wait for my friends while they climbed and got back. As I was huffing and puffing (while sitting) I saw couple of women chatting heatedly who climbed to the peak.

I was pained, disgusted with myself, shocked and embarrassed and I crawled all the way to the peak.

Surprising how certain things can motivate a person.
